* Odds ratio estimated with multivariate logistic regression by comparing those with normal ALT with those with elevated ALT based on 3,584 total ALT measurements. Because they were available only for a subset of participants, body mass index estimates were derived from a separate model that also included HIV infection and the other variates that are shown. Body mass index was categorized into quartiles and comparisons made versus those in the lowest quartile (<20.3). The level of association of other variates was similar in the body mass index-containing model.
